Unclaim tax treaty for prior year

Hi everyone,

I am considering amending a prior year's return to unclaim a tax treaty. I was fully entitled to claiming it, but may consider reversing this for certain reasons, by amending and paying extra tax. Is there a problem with this -- e.g. might the IRS misunderstand this in some way?

Thank you!
