Hello,
I filed my 2024 federal tax return electronically and later realized I forgot to include royalty income.
I can see the amend (Form 1040-X) option for 2024 in TurboTax Online, and I was able to complete the amendment by adding the royalty income. However, when I click “File”, the system redirects me to the TurboTax 2025 tax filing screen instead of allowing me to submit the amended return.
Could you please help clarify:
Why the amendment submission is redirecting to the 2025 tax screen?
Whether I can still mail the amended return (Form 1040-X) since my original 2024 return was e-filed?
If mailing is required, should I print and mail only Form 1040-X or the entire amended return package?
Thank you for your assistance.

1) It's possible your return isn't eligible for e-filing.
2) Yes, you can print and mail an amended return even if you e-filed the original return.
3) TurboTax should include instructions on how to mail your amended return, including which forms are required.

Thank You for your respones. I have completed amend through 2024 desktop version and printed all package comes with amend. I have still few questions . Please respond
1. But I want to make sure how IRS issue refund as I don't see any my direct deposit details on 1040X form ?
2. do they issue by check for amend?
Thank You
If you electronically file a Form 1040-X for tax year 2021 or later, you may request your refund be directly deposited into your checking or savings account. Otherwise, the IRS will send a check to the address on the return.
but I need mail 1040X-form for 2024 as I cant efile through turbotax . In this case how can i request IRS to deposit my amend refund through direct deposit ?.
Amended tax returns that are mailed are not eligible for direct deposit of a tax refund from the amended return. The IRS will mail a refund check to the address on the amended return.
