After my 2024 Federal and VA State returns submitted via Turbo Tax online were accepted, I discovered a mistake I needed to make which only impacted my state return. When I logged into my TT online account, I did not see a way to only submit an amended state return, so I decided to amend both. The amended Federal return showed no changed occurred, however shortly after it was received by the IRS, i received a text alerting me that my amended returned was rejected (VA state return was accepted and updated refund was paid). I have not been able to find any rejection codes to help me understand why it was rejected. I received emails from Turbo Tax telling me to log in and fix the error(s), but I can't see where to start. I attempted to follow the 'Amend (change) 2024 return' guidance as shown below which requires the use of Turbo Tax desktop, but I have zero idea what needs to be changed (if anything). Since it appears I didn't need to submit an amended Federal return since there were no changes made and I do not have any outstanding balances when I log into my IRS account, do i need to worry about the rejection?
Please help. Thanks!

If the changes you made only affected your state return and had no effect on your federal return, then you do not need to file a federal amended return. You can just do not file the amended return again.
Understood, but I submitted one far Federal also because I wasn't sure and the IRS rejected it and no code was provided. However, when I check my IRS account, it does not show any amended returns being filed and I do not have any outstanding balances with the IRS.
If your amendment was rejected, it won't show in your IRS account. If you didn't need to file a federal amendment you can just leave in it rejected status. It will not hurt anything - rejected just means it wasn't filed.
