To fix this TurboTax bank routing/account number mismatch, you can try  deleting your banking information entirely. Then manually re-enter it. Make sure you are not copy and pasting.

Make sure there are no leading zeros. The number should be nine digits.

Also a couple of large banks in large states break the state up into regions, and thus have more than one routing number for electronic deposits, and the one to use may or may not be the same as printed on a check.   If you by any chance are using Bank of America, see this FAQ:

FAQ:  Bank of America routing number on check doesn't work for direct deposit or direct debit

I've cleared my cache, cookies, deleted my bank information, and verified with Bank of America that the routing # is correct, but TurboTax still will not allow me to e-file my return.  The red error message says "Double check that you're using the correct routing number." ... which I've done multiple times.

Is there a way to bypass this screen and finish e-filing?

Also be sure you are entering the correct account number.

"verified with Bank of America"

Did you specifically ask them for the routing number used for ACH electronic transfers in your state?

There is also a way to directly see the routing number you are supposed to use by looking in your online banking account.   When you log into your account and arrive at the welcome page, click on your account to go to your account page.  Near the top is there a link that says "Account and routing numbers?"   If so, when clicked it should show you the paper check routing number and the electronic routing number (if different.)         NOTE: Do not use the wire routing number.  The numbers should also be shown in a section "Information & services."

I am also on this screen for almost a week, I've become so frustrated, bruising my hand on the table because of this.

Have any of the remedies helped you? Because I've tried installing the software on a different pc think that it was a system error or technical issue. now I'm thinking it's this, but in my case, it is very hard to get more banking information from my clients.

Bank of America routing numbers are still a problem for TurboTax Deluxe for the Mac. This problem apparently has been known for a month and not fixed. It is preventing me (and others) from filing taxes electronically. TurboTax's response and help pages have offered a number of non-solutions with no commitment to actually fixing the software bug. This is a critical software failure, folks! Fix it!

Turbotax will not allow me to efile and keeps telling me my bank routing number and account number do not match. I contacted the bank and the numbers are accurate.

Here are some remedies you could try to resolve this:

  • Go to the banking screen, click on the routing number field, and hold down the Backspace/Delete key on your Mac completely to remove all data. Manually re-type the routing number—do not copy and paste.
  • If this does not work:
    1. Switch to "Forms Mode" on your Mac
    2. Open the "Info Wks"
    3. Locate the banking section
    4. If the box looks yellow or contains characters like 123456789RoutingNumber, delete everything in that box
    5. Re-type only the 9-digit routing number

Thank you for your response.

I've verified, entered and reentered the routing code many times. I've restarted my computer, checked for software updates and run software to clear my cache, memory, etc. None of these "solutions" work.

Intuit software engineers need to do an emergency update to disable the routing number validation on the "Review Your Filing Choices" page. I'm not sure why such validation is done on this page in the first place since the routing number is entered on an earlier screen.

This is a critical software failure that needs to be addressed and has been know for a month or more.
