Maybe your rejection email went to your spam folder and you did not notice. How did you not notice that you either did not receive a 2017 refund or pay your 2017 tax due, though? If your federal return was not e-filed successfully then your state return was not e-filed, either. So better file your state return, too, if you live in a state with a state income tax.
At this point you have to print, sign and mail your 2017 return. It cannot be e-filed. if you do owe tax due, then your penalty/interest has been adding up since the filing deadline. You can expect a bill from the IRS later after they finally receive your tax return and your payment of the amount shown as tax due on the return.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2017 is permanently closed. You have to download 2017 software to a full PC or Mac (not to a mobile device) and then print, sign and mail your return. If you already paid for your TurboTax software, you can contact customer support to push a download of the software to you.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.
Thanks for responding.
I've never had my returns rejected in the past before (I've filed for the past 9 years this way). I already checked my inbox, spam inbox, etc. My return was also rejected this year, but I received that rejection email (I printed it out and mailed it). I thought it was strange, but like I said, my returns were always accepted. The amounts for 2017 were not significant and the amounts are usually withdrawn from my accounts electronically. Once I file and pay, I just forget it like most people. Also I only log into TurboTax during tax season.
The IRS letter says I can e-file still though? At any rate, I'll have to contact Support tomorrow to get this resolved.
Thanks.
yes pros have the ability to e file earlier year returns. TT is not set up to allow efiling of earlier year returns.
if TT never sent you a email saying return was rejected, it is possible that you did not take all the steps necessary to efile. in that case TT would show the return ready to mail.
You will not be able to e-file using TurboTax. You will have to print, sign and mail your 2017 return.

Remember that if your federal return was not e-filed, then your state return was not e-filed, either, so you need to file your state return too.
And since 2017 was rejected or not filed then enter 0 for the AGI to efile 2018. You can still efile 2018 until Oct 15.
Edit....Oh I see you already mailed it.
