I have noticed every single year the costs are growing by leaps and bounds. This year I am paying over $300 bucks to file ($50.00 of that by choice - MAX) and it seems that despite not owning a house or having anything substantial outside of 2 jobs with a paycheck and some child care, the costs still jumped. We had childcare for 2 months of 2020, standard deductions, etc. Any insight on this? I think it might be time to look elsewhere for next year. TurboTax is very convenient with importing data, but after a decade of using TurboTax it is becoming VERY expensive.

Based on your post you are using the Premier online edition ($90). Adding a state return ($50).
Excluding Max your cost should only be $140. What else did you add?

The Premier edition is only needed if you are repotting any type of investment sale or you have rental/royalty property income and expenses.
If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2020 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.
