The IRS is behind on something like 36 million pieces of mail.  If you sent by certified mail, then you should have a receipt of when it was delivered, but due to COVID the delivery services normally do not have to collect signatures anymore.  My attorney friend was telling me what a nightmare not requiring signatures has become for the court system.

You 2018 return will be waiting until someone gets to it.  That could be a long time, maybe a year or longer.

It has been taking the IRS six months or even longer to process the millions of mailed returns they are backlogged on.   A 2018 return is not going to be shown on the IRS refund site, which will only display information for 2021 refunds.   If you know the mailed return was received, all you can do is wait for it to be processed, which is going to take a long time.
