The return is saying my depandents last name or social socurity is incorrect and I’ve checked and both are correct what should I do?

Has anyone on your tax return had a name change, such as by marriage or divorce, in the past year and not notified the Social Security Administration? The IRS verifies are returns against the SSA database. If that is the case, the person must notify their local SSA office of the change. It will take about 10 days for the database to be updated; you can resubmit your tax return at that time.

You also have the option to print, sign, and mail your tax return if you are convinced that all names and SSNs are correct.
