The IRS is saying that they are now accepting e-file 1040x for 2019. Is this an option on TurboTax?

Since the IRS is not currently accepting/processing paper due to the pandemic, they have announced they will be accepting 1040x forms for 2019 electronically. 3 week wait time is better than an unknown number of months until they are back in their offices...

Sometime later in the season you will be able to e-file an amended return---but not yet.

The IRS has said that they want to e-file 1040X and "hope" to have that running sometime later this "summer"  To do that, the IRS must first write e-file specifications (schemas) for the 1040X and then program and test the IRS e-file system to accept the electronic forms, then give those specification to tax software companies to write and program their software.    Then the whole thing must be tested end-to-end before released to the public.   That procedure usually takes several months to do, and is still is the design  stage.

[For perspective - the new 8915-C and 8915-D forms for 2018 & 2019 Federal disaster relief have been known since late 2019 and those forms are not even in the draft stage yet at the IRS -  7 months later, let alone close to actually be made available for filing.  The IRS is not known for being fast to implement new things.]
