If the direct deposit was refused by your bank then the refund will be returned to the IRS and converted into a paper check mailed to the address on your tax return ... this conversion process can take 3 to 6 weeks or even longer and all you can do is wait.
"it says it was direct deposited on the 9th"
You didn't say what the "it" is. Is that the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool?
Was the refund supposed to go directly from the IRS to your bank account, or was your situation the following?
The following may or may not apply to you. If it doesn't, then you can just ignore it.
If you had any TurboTax fees, did you choose to pay your TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund? If so, that's handled by a third-party processor SBTPG (aka TPG or Tax Products Group.) If you paid by that method, the refund first goes from the IRS to an account at a third-party bank where the fees are subtracted. Then that intermediary bank sends the rest on to your bank account (or card.) If that's your situation, you can check on the refund using SBTPG's refund lookup tool at their website. Choose the "For taxpayers" portal at:
https://www.sbtpg.com/
If that's your situation, and if the deposit from SBTPG's bank to your bank were to fail, the money would go back to SBTPG's bank who would issue you a paper check in the mail. Less commonly SBTPG's bank returns it to the IRS.
