State return submitted but just found out W-2 incorrect and state taxes weren't supposed to be taken from sub pay. New w-2 coming from company. What do I do?

Not sure how long it will take to receive new w-2.  State return mailed but will have to be amended later.  How do I handle this?

First, wait until your original state return is completely processed - refund received or payment cleared.

Then, amend your return to report the corrected W-2. Make the changes in the federal interview since the state return gets its W-2 information from the federal entries. Unless your federal return shows a change, you will only have to file an amended state return.
