Yes. When you e-file your return, you should see a Transmission Successful screen. This means your return is on its way to the government agency. For more info please click the link below.
How do I e-file my personal (individual) tax retur ...
Did you go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?
You can check your efile status here
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.
When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?
My says "printed". I filed by mail and am wanting to know how I know if the IRS received the mail.
The only way to know if the IRS got a mailed return is if you got a tracking number from the post office. Or they cashed your check if you included one for a tax due. Or you receive the refund. Or if it shows up here, 4 weeks after mailing you can start checking IRS Where's my refund
But they are not processing mailed returns right now.
See this IRS page for the latest information.

It says.......
Paper Tax Returns: All taxpayers should file electronically through their tax preparer, tax software provider or IRS Free File if possible. The IRS is not currently able to process individual paper tax returns. If you already have filed via paper but it has not yet been processed, do not file a second tax return or write to the IRS to inquire about the status of your return or your economic impact payment. Paper returns will be processed once processing centers are able to reopen. This year, more than 90% of taxpayers have filed electronically.
