What do you mean an amended "when you filed"? You don't amend until the original tax return has been fully processed and you receive your refund.
Amended returns normally take about 16 weeks (4 months) to process, but this year with the COVID-19 slowdown and backlog, they will probably take much longer. But amending while the original is still being processed so there are two returns in the system at the same time will cause both to be kicked out for manual processing that can take half a year or more.
Ok maybe it’s not my initial filing was rejected so I went in to fix the state taxes since I live in TN. I feel I should have my refund by now-hmm. I also have not received a stimulus check either.
If your original rejected and you corrected and resent, that is not amending - that is still the original return.
What dies the status say:The IRS says that they "try" to pay most refunds withing 21 days of filing, but of course that means that some refunds can take much longer. Once your tax return has been accepted by the IRS (or state) TurboTax receives no feedback whatsoever on the status of your refund. Only the IRS (or state) can give you any information after the tax return has been filed.
If the IRS "reviews" your return for any reason (even a random check), you can expect at least a 60 day delay - or longer.
