Wait....did you enter W-2 information before you had the W-2? What did you use for the information that you entered? Did you check on the other information to see if it all matches? Did you import the W-2?
so we work remotely i have never looked or even gotten a real check its all direct deposit. We switched companies not that long ago so i would not know our home location, we got a w2 virtually, then they resent it all the information is the same EXCEPT the address. But i filed before i got the corrected address on the w2.
no i did not import since it was located on my work computer i manually put everything in.
So...what is incorrect? The mailing address for the employer? Did you use the correct EIN? The mailing address is not going to affect your return---do not try to amend for that.
yes the EIN was correct just the mailing address for employer incorrect. Thank you 🙂
If the numbers are exact and the F-EIN is correct, you should be ok without having to amend. If you received a W2c(corrected) and the FEIN and numbers don't match, you must amend. If you receive a corrected Form W-2 after you filed your return with Form 4852, and the information differs from the information reported on your return, you must amend your return by filing Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. Check out this website from the IRS to see if you need to amend, this is a great tool. According to their website, if none of that specific information changed (i.e. wages, taxes withheld, etc.) which does not include the employer address, you should not need to amend. But do double-check for your specific needs.
