Since I lived in Texas and New Mexico with 2 different jobs do I need to file 2 different returns

No, you would file 1 federal return and enter all your income tax documents.  You would indicate in the return that you lived in 2 different states.  Because Texas does not have a state tax requirement you will only have 1 state return (New Mexico) to complete. 

*Note: In most cases, you have to file a state return for each state that you lived in or earned income in.
