Should I redo my taxes for this year , if still have yet to receive them?

I still have yet to receive my taxes for the year 2022? Could this be affected due to back child support that I’m to receive?

If you filed a first time,

you do not want to file a second tax return.

If your status doe not show up on "Where's My Refund" page at IRS.gov,

you should call the IRS for an update.

Do you mean that you OWE child support or do you mean that someone else owes back child support to you?   If you are behind in child support that YOU owe, then your refund could be seized by the IRS to pay the child support.   The IRS will not delay your refund because someone else owes child support to you.

If your return was accepted, then do NOT file again.  First of all, if your e-file was accepted, it is impossible to e-file again; any attempt to e-file again will be rejected.  Second....if the IRS has your tax return then you do not want to cause confusion and more delays by sending in the return again even by mail.

You need to see what the IRS is doing with your return.   TurboTax does not get any information after you file your return, nor can TT find out for you.   You have to track it yourself on the IRS refund site.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2022 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

OR——if you filed by mail, expect a long wait.   It is taking the very backlogged IRS six to nine months to process mailed returns.   Until a human opens your envelope and enters the data into the system, nothing will even show up on the refund site, so you will have to be very patient.

To call the IRS:IRS:  800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Mon-Fri

Listen to each menu before making the selection.

First choose your language. Press 1 for English.

Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".

Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".

Then press 3 "for all other questions."

Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent.
