Should i pay my taxes before i file an amended return?

I filed my federal taxes last week and now i realized that i forgot some deductions. I will owe the way it is filed now, but once i file an amended return i should receive a refund. Do I have to pay what the 1st return says before I file the amended return even though i will be getting a refund ?

Yes, you should definitely pay what you owe. That keeps things straight with the IRS computers. THen when you amend the IRS will "basically" be sending at least some of what you paid, (if not all) back to you.
