Should I file an extension or an amended return if I am disputing a 1099-misc I received?

If you have not filed your tax return then you should file an extension to allow time to resolve your disputed 1099-MISC.  If you have filed your tax return then you will have to file an amended tax return if your original 1099-MISC is changed from the one you originally filed.  The links below have information on how to file an extension and how to file an amended tax return
