Should I amend my return if I filed before the tax breaks? There was a 10,200 federal break and my state forgave UI debt too.

As the title says, the 10,200 federal unemployment forgiveness was signed into law AFTER I filed, and my state (MD) also forgave all state unemployment tax debt, but my return still says I owe federal and state taxes. Should I amend my return? Will that fix anything? Or should I just not pay and wait.

Please wait. The IRS does not want amended returns for the unemployment. They are working out a way to refund you without an amended return. You will have to be patient, and you will also need to be patient with MD.
