should adult child amend to non-dependent?

My adult daughter filed her taxes a couple months ago saying she would be claimed as a dependent. TurboTax is telling me that she does not qualify to be my dependent. Does she need to amend her return to file as a non-dependent or does it matter?  Also, TurboTax won't let me add her 1099-Q because it says she is not a dependent, but I am the recipient so I am responsible. Seems complicated!

Yes. Your daughter should amend her return if she does not qualify to be a dependent.

You can use this IRS app to verify that she is not a dependent: Whom May I Claim as a Dependent?

The 1099-Q and Form 1098-T would then go on her return.
