Reason for delays

I read today that IRS has new security measures in place and that some of the measures will cause the IRS to increase processing time for returns and refunds mistakes on returns will delay your refund mistakes such as mathematical errors or incorrect personal information also stated IRS will contact you if there are any issues with your return and in some cases the IRS will correct  small mathematical  errors that could save you from filing amended return. If you owe outstanding debt  such as back taxes, defaulted on student loans child support,  certain credits will delay your refund, I just wanted to share what I read as I have read many of these post I, am one of the many who are still waiting!!!

Reason for delays

Yes, I agree.  The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act (PATH Act) prevents the IRS from issuing early refunds on any tax return that claims the Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC) and/or Additional Child Tax Credit.

Other things that can delay your refund include, but are not limited to:

  • Liens, back taxes, or refund offsets
  • Errors, inconsistencies, or missing information
  • Identity fraud
  • Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation, which can take 11-14 weeks to process

Refer to the following TurboTax FAQs for additional information:  Some 2019 federal refunds are delayed due to the P ... and Why do some refunds take longer than others?
