Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Did you do this?
Sign onto your TurboTax account and the status of the federal tax return will be displayed - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
What is the status of the tax return?
The status is my taxes were filed but have not yet been mailed in.
Did you efile your return or does your account say Ready to Mail?
Printed or Ready to Mail means you have to actually print out your tax return and mail it to the IRS or state yourself. So it has not been filed yet. And it will always say Ready to Mail. Turbo Tax doesn’t know if or when you mailed it and the IRS doesn’t update Turbo Tax when they get your mailed return. You can try to switch to efile. Click on Add a State to let you back into your retun.
Or if you want to mail a return from the Online version
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.
Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.
If you electronically filed your return, then to check the status of your Federal refund, take a look at the following TurboTax article and use this link: IRS Where's My Refund?
Where's My Tax Refund? How to check your refund status
If you chose to file your return by mail, then you are responsible for printing, signing, and mailing the return to the IRS. After you have mailed your return, you will eventually be able to check the status of your refund using the link above. However, there will be a long delay since the IRS has not been accepting mailed returns due to the pandemic.
If you did already mail your return but there is no status available, it is probably due to the long delays being experienced with mailed returns.
I would like to upgrade to PLUS. How can I do that now?
