I am unable to find the $1300 credit I should have gotten on my qualified dividends which I paid to Canada. Why does it not appear on page 1 of my 1040 as a credit?
I just read through all 5 pages of this discussion and no one has the problem I have. When I try to transfer my 2018 tax return Turbo Tax can't locate it. When I go back to Turbo Tax 2018 and try to open my 2018 return which is on my computer I get this message:
The document "my name 18.tax2018" has the wrong tax year or some other issue that prevents us from opening it. Please make sure you have the right file and try again.
I know I have the right file. I don't know how to fix the tax year. This is stored on my computer, a MacBook Pro.

You're not seeing your issue in this thread because this has become an unmanageable cluttered old thread with multiple users posting a salad of miscellaneous topics. For the best visibility and assistance, and to avoid confusion, people should almost always start their own new thread, especially when it's a different topic. Since you've already posted here, I'll see if I can get a Mac helper to assist you here, but they may or may not be around tonight.
BTW, is your 2018 tax data file that you are trying to open in your 2018 Mac software password-protected?
@ macuser_22
Are you able to assist here when you are next in the forum? User is having trouble transferring 2018 into 2019. And an attempt to open the 2018 data file with the 2018 program produces the error user described in his/her comment above. Thanks!
No my 2018 tax file is not password protected
Why i owe so much
I am trying to print a copy of 2018 taxes. I inserted the deluxe Turbotax cd and installed it to my Mac. after the program is installed I try to download the tax file and a message says that I need to download my state tax first. I download the state and it says it's completed. When I go to download the tax file I get the same message, again and again....download complete, but doesn't let me bring up the tax file. What can I do?

First be sure you have checked for updates to the 2018 software using the updater, or perhaps it auto-updated when you launched it after installing, but can't hurt to check again.
It sounds like you are stuck in a state download-install loop. Is this California by any chance? If so, the state files may be downloaded, but remains zipped and not extracted. See if the workaround below works for you. It might also work for other states, but California 2018 was the main culprit.
If that doesn't work, phone TurboTax Support and ask if they will furnish you a copy of the state software as a separate download in your account. Once received, you can then install the state software from that file.
To get a contact number use the form below. Where the form asks what product you are using, be sure in the dropdown menu to indicate "CD/download" and the Mac operating system, then indicate which Edition you're using for 2018.

TIP: Since you started your issue in this thread, you can continue it here if you need to respond. But in the future, it's normally best to originate an issue in a new thread of your own, especially when the topic is different. As you can see, your post ended up in the middle of an old cluttered multi-user thread where most potential helpers wouldn't have seen it.
Last year I put in the wrong ss# and never got to file my taxes. How can I fix this?

Hopefully @macuser_22 can assist you with your Mac issue.
If you don't get an answer in this thread today, you can either start a new thread dedicated to your issue, where more people will see it, or here's how to phone TurboTax Support:

Close TurboTax and restart and apply any updates.
Try using File -> New Tax Return and start a dummy tax return. Make sure the correct state is there . The use File-> Open Tax Return and locate as select the .tax2018 data file.
If that does not help the do a total uninstall and re-install including state.
Corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file.
The best remedy is to totally uninstall TurboTax and all associate files and then re-install. That will not delete or change any .tax2018 data file that had already been created with the tax data.
To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also be reinstalled.

You have posted in a jumbled and cluttered old multi-user thread that has many different topics and issues and has become a random question dump. You are less likely to get assistance in a tired old thread of multiple topics. It's nearly always best to start your own new thread where helpers are more like to see it.
You can go to the page below and click the blue "Ask a Question" button. When the question form appears, summarize your question in the title line (space is limited.) Below the question title line you will see a box to enter details where you will have plenty of room to explain your situation.
Why can't turbo tax find my last years information?
@jcstohlmann Please see the following TurboTax FAQ for assistance with finding your return from last year: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/why-can-t-i-find-my-return-in-tax-home-or-my-docs/0...

If your 2018 was prepared online last year, and if you can't find your 2018 return in that account when you look in the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents," then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one. Many people end up with multiple accounts without realizing it. Here's how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) :
You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes. A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be. It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.
To get a list of your User IDs and recover account access, you can use the tool at the link below. Try using your phone number first. After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access.
NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop. Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below. You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session.
https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery
If still no luck after running that on your phone number and email address(es) that you can access, here's another method:
Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, and choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by SSN and other parameters.
