I've already filed my 2020 return

I am planning to file for FAFSA, but I would like to get the most benefits possible. If my AGI is now lower because my unemployment benefits are no longer part of my 2020 income, I would like to file with that new amended number.

Understandable that you would like to get the most benefits possible.  Do you have a question?

Is my AGI now a different number because of the Cares act provisions? Can I calculate this myself based on info in my un-amended return, since the IRS doesn't want us to resubmit?

I am not optimistic about actually receiving an updated return back from intuit/the IRS, even if we get a refund for taxed Unemployment Benefits in May.

Yes, your adjusted gross income would be lower for FAFSA for the unemployment benefit exclusion of $10,200, or whatever amount of your unemployment if it was less than the $10,200.
