I recived a letter 2645c from the irs inside the letter it say that they need 60 day's to finish there audit. Can some please help me

We got a second when the 60 days was up! The 'second' 60-days are up next week, so I'm anxious to know if I will get a third 60 day letter or if we will get our refund. No explanation or audit notice given, just the 60 day review.

Has anyone received their federal refund yet with this letter? I am on my third "60 day" notice with no solution or questions answered in sight. I received my State return no problem. But I filed in February and here we are middle of July with no Federal. I have tried calling and calling for the last 5 months. I was originally thinking it was because I did not receive the first 2 Stimulus checks and answered so on my return which was apart of refund, and made my refund larger than it would have been but now I'm getting a little nervous. Any help or at least knowing I'm not the only person calms my nerves. Thank You in advance!

We just got our 3rd 60-day letter and same circumstances you pointed out. Sounds like it will be months before any movement based on other threads I’ve seen :(

After receiving this letter I called my state senator after waiting 12 weeks. They needed nothing from me, but time they said. After my Senator contacted the IRS I had my refund in about 2 weeks.

@annharb74 You are adding on to a very old thread that multiple users have posted to.   No one in this user forum --or anyone at TurboTax---knows about a letter you received from the IRS.  We do not know who "Courtney"  is.     We cannot see your tax return.

Is there a number on the letter?   What exactly does the letter say?  Does the letter say you need to do something or does it just say that you need to wait for the IRS to process your return?

I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE IRS/STATE

TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS or your state after your return was filed, so no one at TurboTax knows about a letter you received from the IRS or the state.

AUDIT SUPPORT

TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support.   At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support".  Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter.  Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

We filed 2020 taxes in early March, 2021 and received a 60 day extension letter from the IRS as well. In fact, every 60 days until September (I think we got 3 letters), we received an extension. Finally, our refund was deposited in late September, with interest, but no notification as to why it was delayed, or a letter closing it out noting why it was more than we filed for (I assume it was interest). So hang in there, hopefully it will work out like ours did. We were very upset and nervous about it all summer long!

@melki70

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/2840013-does-accepted-mean-my-refund-is-approved

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/2724106-my-return-is-accepted-but-still-not-approved-is-there-a-pr...

OR——if you filed by mail, expect a long wait.   It is taking the very backlogged IRS six to nine months to process mailed returns.   Until a human opens your envelope and enters the data into the system, nothing will even show up on the refund site, so you will have to be very patient.

jrmck56, Did you ever hear anything more? I received a letter yesterday saying I made an inquiry in August and they need 60 days to review. But I did not make an inquiry. Checked my IRS account and nothing looks strange, have a $0 balance, etc.

I got this letter too from the IRS. It says thank u for your inquiry of Aug 10, 2022 but what inquiry? It's for tax period December 31, 2021 form 1040 letter 2645C ko? But what is it in response to , then yesterday I got a letter from  intuit TurboTax , saying that there records show that I have not filed my taxes for 2021 yet by the IRS records, but I already did file with liberty tax last year back in February, so I don't understand why it says that I haven't filed when I did. I have never used turbo tax to file my taxes ever.

@Heathermcgraw1  Sounds like you started a return in a TurboTax account and did not finish preparing the return nor file it, so that could explain the email.   TT has no way to know that you used Liberty Tax.   Ignore the email.
