I mailed in my taxes over 2 months ago and IRS does not even have me on their record

I mailed in my tax forms over 2 months ago. I would have done it electronically but TurboTax did not let me due to a box I literally could not fill out due to my employer not providing the information. It was for Kroger and it was boxes 15-17. This morning I managed to amend the issue, but cannot submit it electronically. My only option is to print it again....

Long story short I mailed my forms to the address given to me by TurboTax yet the IRS won't verify with me if they even received my letter. Can I submit them electronically NOW or do I need to mail them again.

I have tried contacting both the IRS and TurboTax and I cannot seem to get an answer.

No do not e-file.   Putting two returns into the system can lead to confusion and more delay.

It can take weeks  (or a LOT longer since the IRS is severely backlogged) for anything to show up on the IRS site when you mail a tax return.

If  you mail a tax return (or a payment) to the IRS, it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know it was received.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.

TurboTax will not know anything about your mailed return, and will continue to show “Ready to Mail” on your account.  TurboTax will not know that you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox.  TurboTax does not get updates on mailed  (or e-filed) returns.

When the IRS opens its mail and begins to process mailed returns you can check the status on the IRS site. https://www.irs.gov/refunds

State returns have to be mailed to the state.

If you are wondering if you should send your return again——the IRS does not want you to file a second time.   Putting two tax returns into the system at the same time can lead to confusion and even more delays.   If you did not use tracking and do not know if the return was received—-you have to make your own judgment call and decide if you want to risk further delay by sending the return again.

@bobblehead1984 - figure paper filed returns are taking 6-9 months to process as the IRS is woefully backlogged.  it could be months until you see anything on the WMR tool.

further, why are you going to amend the return? Boxes 15-17 related to state withholdings.  if you are itemizing (subject to the $10,000 SALT limit) and it changes your deductions, I could understand that. But if you are taking the standard deduction or already have $10,000 in SALT deductions, there is no point to the amendment that I can see, and it will just hold up the original return even further.

that stated, it could affect your state tax return if the state withholdings were not accurate.

suggest holding off on the amendment until the original return is processed.
