At the screen Let’s double-check the amount you received, you will report the $2,800 from your IRS Letter 6475 reporting the third stimulus payment.
In TurboTax Online, you are prompted to input the third stimulus check information under Review down the left hand side of the screen. You can also access your stimulus check choices by following these steps:
If you have not received the third stimulus check, you will receive your payment in the form of a Recovery Rebate Credit on line 30 of your 2021 Federal tax return when you file.
TurboTax will compare your stimulus payment amount to the computations within TurboTax. The computations within TurboTax are based upon the information that you have entered into the tax software. If you are due an additional amount, it will be issued as a Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC) on line 30 of the 2021 1040 tax return.
Thanks for the reply, but this does not answer the question. I did not receive the stimulus for my daughter, but her portion of the stimulus was already paid to someone else. If I report the $2800 that the letter states, and I receive the RRC, then her social security number will have been double paid. On one hand I could over-report the letter, which would be wrong, or I could receive the credit, which would also be wrong. I don't see an option that allows me to file through an automated system that doesn't take this unique situation into account.
Good news. YES you can also get it this year. And they don't have to pay it back.
Perfect, thank you! I thought that would have been incorrect... Doesn't 100% make sense to me as to why, but I'll take it lol
