Did you receive unemployment compensation in 2020?

@prettygirl---12 Okay---what are you trying to do?   You did not work.....have you been claimed as someone else's dependent?   Did you receive ANY sort of 2020 income to enter on a tax return?

Then you have self-employment income that can be entered on a tax return.   You can expect to owe some self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare.   You still did not answer if you are being claimed as someone else's dependent.  If someone else can claim you as a dependent then you are not eligible to receive any stimulus checks, even if you file a tax return.  The person who can claim you would receive the 3rd check.

If made at least $400 of self-employment income you are supposed to file a tax return.   You can do that for free by using Free File.   You will have to prepare a schedule C for your expenses like supplies, etc.

If you qualify to use it, there is another full-featured free version of the software:

Try Free File:

You qualify if your income was $39,000 or less, or $72,000 or less if active duty military, or if you qualify for Earned Income Credit

If no one else can claim you as a dependent then make sure you use the recovery rebate credit section to get stimulus money for the first two checks if you did not receive them.

The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return.  If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check in 2020, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021

The Recovery Rebate Credit will be found in the FEDERAL REVIEW section. ( you should see "Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount”)  If you are eligible it will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.

Make sure that you enter ALL of the stimulus money received for the 1st and 2nd stimulus for yourself, your spouse and your children.

The third stimulus check is separate and is issued by the IRS on its own timetable.  You do not enter anything about it on your 2020 return.
