Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

I filed my 1040x for 2018 and 2019 via mail on July 6, 2020. I have not heard back from the IRS. The Refund hotline does not have any information. Does it hurt to refile?

The IRS has millions of paper returns that they still have to process in the order they were received.

Go to this IRS website for the status of an amended tax return - https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

As stated on the IRS website -

COVID-19 Mail Processing Delays

It’s taking us longer to process mailed documents including:

  • Paper tax returns, and
  • All tax return related correspondence.

We are processing all mail in the order we received it.

Do not file a second tax return or call the IRS.

I've been there before and it says my info is unavailable. It's been 6 months. I guess I'll just have to wait more.

Thank you for your response.
