How answer "Tell us about your refund" if have amended tax return for 2018?

I'm guessing I could:
a) do this section twice
b) do section once: add refund from original 2018 + refund from amended 2018, and only use amended number for "Total of all your payments and withholding"
c) do section once: only use amended 2018 refund and use amended number for "Total of all your payments and withholding"

This is for the Federal section, but seems to be talking about my state.

I first have to ask some questions.

  • What section are you in that asks that question?
  • Did you do an amended return for 2018?
  • Why were there changes?

Thanks, I'm in the Federal: Wages & Income area. I did do an amended return for 2018. My employer made a minor mistake and had to give a corrected W-2 (W-2C).

If you file a federal return with itemized deductions, the state refund is taxable on the federal return in the year that you receive it. If the amended return changed the state refund (in other words, you also amended your state return and the refund or balance due changed) then you would need to enter the changed state refund.

If they are talking about your state refund, if you owed money on the state amended return you would add it to the "Total of all your payments and withholding". If you received an additional refund from the state, there should be an area to enter that.
