the same for me and I cannot find an answer by either CA Franchise Board or Turbo Tax
I have now received 'approval" on my Fed return BUT still no response from Tubrotax nor the state of CA
The two returns are processed by two different agencies. See the Turbo Tax FAQ for more information on why your State return is still pending.
If you are expecinting a refund, see this FAQ for more information regarding How to track your state refund.
response to your below answer:I know that; but been using your company many yrs now and always in the past submitted both at same time and with-in a day or two I have received both Fed and state response. WHY different this year and answer the simple questions. So when is CA state going to accept returns and why so hard to contact you for an answer? You need a E-mail contact address the phone line is horrible.
Some state returns will stay Pending for several days or even longer, especially with the IRS filing delay and backlog this tax season due to COVID closing the offices and leaving the IRS with very few employees working for the past year. The IRS has not stated how long returns can or will remain in pending status.

I e-filed my state and federal tax returns for 2020 using TurboTax Premier but TurboTax does not have a copy and the CA state Franchise Board does not have a copy. The CA Franchise Board wants a copy.
@darazon If you used online TurboTax to prepare and file your federal and state returns then your tax files are in your account. Are you sure you are looking in the right account? The state return would be somewhere after you scroll past the federal return.
You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.
Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them. Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax? If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURN !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
I have been using TurboTax for years and I did get a message saying that my tax return forms were accepted by both state and federal. I used TurboTax premier but when I did not get my CA state tax refund I checked with TurboTax and they would not help me (or could not?) . I paid for the insurance as always and now the CA franchise board said that they did not get my returns for 2020 even though TurboTax sent me that message saying that they were accepted. Why won't TurboTax help me?
@darazon TurboTax does not get any information from the state after you file your tax return. You say that the return was accepted. If the state accepted your return, there is nothing else that TurboTax can do for you. TurboTax cannot legally intercede with the state for you. As stated above, if the state is saying they did not receive your return then print it out again and mail it to them. If they are saying that you owed state tax due and did not pay it, then your only proof that you paid will be your own bank or credit card statement that shows the payment.
Please re-read the previous reply and follow the instructions to find your state return in your account. Then print it out and mail a copy to CA. Check your own records to see if you paid.
Even if the CA return was successfully efiled sometimes they get "lost" in the system so if the fed/state requests another SIGNED copy of the return then comply to the notice as directed. Also send a copy of the email accepance or the filing history report that will be in the PDF file you can currently print.
