CA state taxes. Refund went down $33, the only thing that changed was I got a Renter's Credit of $60. Why did my refund go down instead of up?

If you qualified for the CA Earned Income Credit, your refund may have gone down, even if you had less income.  It depends on how much income you had, so if you changed the amount, you changed the credit.
