@debskain sorry if you thought I was being rude. Turbo tax is free if you have a simple return. That's all I was trying to say. I know this year I had to erase everything and start over to get the free version. They don't really make it easy if you've paid in the past and change to the free version.

I don't get "free" on TT so you must all tell me your secret. I paid $80.00. 

I make a third of your wealth.

I was challenging the post where someone has already received their refund based on taking tax credits, because they have free filing and a credit Union.

@debskain standard deduction, no charitable donations, no college/school claims, mortgage interest paid is so low that I don't try to claim that.

If you're able to use a standard 1040 form it is free. Even with the ACTC in my case.

Once you start adding on different forms it's no longer free. Or you say you want all their advice and chat features

You said you make less than 25K. You have my prayers for you and your family. Educate yourself on your options and don't waste your money paying Turbo Tax because you clearly need it. No poverty here just an educated career woman.

I don't think anyone is trying to "roast" you. We are trying to help you. I'm sorry you are paying for something that could be free. I hope you take the advice and look into the free filing next year. You can call Turbo Tax and they will walk you through the process of switching to free filing. The website is the same, just need to clear your account. I hope you have a better 2020. Good luck with your return.

3. did u electronic file?

4 did you check your irs transcript for cycle code?
