2019 Tax Return

My system crashed and I had to re-install TurboTax 2019, but TurboTax won't re-open my 2019 tax return (I had a copy on a USB backup drive).  Is there anything special I should do to get TurboTax to re-open my tax file?

Also I have a copy of the .tax file and the .pdf file, but neither will open in TurboTax2019.

First try to open the .tax2019 file from the hard drive not the backup.  So you may need to copy it from the usb drive first.  Can you start a new return in the program?

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to File-New Tax Return).

Then go to FILE -Open and find your return.

Well tell your boss There is no reason to figure out my state or federal income tax return. Because FBI and CIA are now involved.Can you will be taking care of this process. Because of the fraud and identity theft sorry for having to waste your time if you need any confirmation about the statement I just made give me a call or or call the San Diego Police Department.

To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

For a fee of $43 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf
