IRS website says possible offset on my '18 taxes.I need to amend them to claim rental income, which would make me owe. After amendment will I get the offset back?

I already filed for 2018 and was getting a refund, I forgot to input my rental income which would cause me to owe taxes. So now I am currently waiting to amend them. Checked the IRS where's my refund and it states that I may have a possible offset. My question is if my return is offset and I amend which will take me from receiving a refund to owing one will I receive the offset back because technically it wasn't really mine in the first place??? Thank you in advance!!

Unfortunately, the answer is probably not. Once an agency puts a claim in, there is generally no way to stop it.

There is possible relief from the Taxpayer Advocate in certain circumstances. Go to: https://taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov/get-help/offsets

Thank you, that is what I am afraid of. So I will have to pay the IRS back the refund amount taken in the offset plus the amount I will owe after amendment. Stressful. Thank you so much for your response!
