I am a GS employee and pcsd may 2024-October2024. I have my regular w2 and travel w2. When filing my taxes do I annotate I lived abroad part of the year in the US and part abroad. I still worked for the federal government on a military installation. When I didn't select this I owed state but when I selected it the amount dropped. Not sure why I would owe state they still took taxes out all year while living abroad.

Which state are you filing your tax return with?  Also, what dates during the year were you in that state and what date were you abroad?  This will help us to better assist you at properly filing that state return.
