On TurboTax, my federal return included the recovery rebate credit, but actual my return did not. The IRS website says I still have the $1400 left to claim. Any insight?

This is specifically for the third economic impact payment. The amounts for the first and second impact payment are $0.00, but there is still a value of $1400 for the third impact payment on the IRS website. I should be eligible for it, so I'm not sure why it hasn't been applied to my return.

What exactly are you looking at on the IRS web site? Are you looking at the Economic Impact Payment Information on your Tax Records page, as shown in the screen shot below? That shows the amount that was already sent to you in 2021, not the amount you can still claim. Since it was already sent to you, you cannot claim it again on your tax return.

Here's my info about the 3 stimulus rounds.

EIP1 The first Stimulus payment was 1,200 for each spouse and 500 for each dependent under 17.  Came out in spring of 2020.

EIP2 The second Stimulus was 600 per person and dependents under 17. The 2nd stimulus checks started going out at the very end of December 2020 and continued into January/Feb 2021.

The first 2 Stimulus payments went on your 2020 return even if you got the second one in Jan/Feb 2021.

EIP3 The 3rd Stimulus payment started going out in March 2021 and is for 1,400 for each person listed on your tax return, no age limit. The IRS used your 2020 (or 2019) return to send the checks out fast. If your 2021 return changes and you qualify for more you can claim the extra as the Recovery Rebate Credit on 1040 line 30. But line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more. Not the amount you already got. The IRS also sent out letter 6475 to tell you how much they sent you . If you are married then each spouse should get a letter for half.

Double check your bank statements and Check your IRS account (both accounts if married)

If the IRS didn't send you the first two payments then did they get added to your 2020 return line30?  Or you might need to amend your 2020 return to claim them.

what do you mean your federeal return included the recovery rebate credit but my return did not?

you are eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit OR the Stimulus  BUT NOT BOTH

if you received the stimulus, it would have been received March- May, 2021,

Otherwise, look at Line 30 of Form 1040 - that is where the Recovery Rebate Credit is listed (again assuming you didn't already receive the stimulus)

@NCperson  - They mean that the credit was on the tax return (Form 1040 line 30) but was not included in the refund. In other words, the IRS removed the credit.

@chase7097 - Your tax return is the form you send to the government that shows your income and calculates your tax. The money the government sends back to you is your refund.
