A Child tax credit will be found on Form 1040, Line 12a (non-refundable portion); and the refundable portion (up to $1,400) will be found on Line 17b. Form 8812 calculates both entries.

Not everybody gets $2000 for each child they claim.

The non-refundable portion, of the child tax credit, is on line 12a of form 1040 and the refundable portion on line 17b.

The calculations for both entries shows on form 8812.
