My work didn't take any Maryland State out from my check all year and now I owe 1400 for their mistake so I need to know if I really owe that or is my company reliable

If you did not have taxes for Maryland withheld from your paychecks you will have to pay the tax now.  Your employer is required to take the taxes out UNLESS you tell them not to and are exempt. If you do not want to owe next year, ask your employer for a new MW507.

When I got hire I filled out all paperwork including Federal and State to my knowledge so I did not give my permission to not take any State from my check so my employer did not take any State out that's why I'm stuck owing for their mistake
