My Missouri state return refund was dramatically reduced. Filing a combined joint return we only have standard deductions. Something was not calculated correctly.

If the state changes your tax return, they will send you a letter explaining the changes. They don't tall us why. Until then you can try calling the state and asking why they made changes but they may tell you that you have to wait for the letter.

Have you even looked at your tax return yet to look for any obvious entry errors, such as a period or comma that was put in the wrong place?

If your state refund was different than you expected, there may be a number of reasons why.
Different agencies process your federal and state refunds, so the two need to be considered separately. You may have looked at a screen that showed the combined result for your Federal and State taxes.
If you elected to pay your TurboTax fee from your refund, that would have come from your Federal refund. In addition, the bank that processes the TurboTax fee also charges a fee of $39, so that charge would be in addition to the cost of your TurboTax products.
If you owed Federal taxes from another tax period, the IRS could also have taken funds from your refund to cover those taxes owed. In addition, if you owe amounts to another Federal agency, such as a defaulted student loan, the IRS can apply part of your tax refund to pay those debts.

Your refund represents the amount by which the payments you made, either through withholding, such as from wages or through estimated payments, exceeds your tax liability for the year after other credits are applied.
Double-check your entries for income, taxes paid, and deductions to confirm they are correct. Compare the individual line items with last year's return as well, if applicable.
