My returns were accepted today; I haven't paid the amount due yet. But now I need to amend my returns which will result in a refund. Do I still pay the original $ due?

No, During the amended interview it will ask about the amount already paid in, enter $0.... which should then make it clear what you owe or what you will get refunded. Make sure to pay any taxes due by 4/15. Good luck.
