21 days is just an IRS average (so they say). In reality, some take longer. Check your refund status on the IRS website

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

i have noticed many threads from self-employed individuals saying they have not received their refund in 21 days.  This may have to do with the ability to defer payment of some self-employment taxes

According to the IRS, “self-employed individuals may defer the payment of 50 percent of the Social Security tax imposed under section 1401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code on net earnings from self-employment income for the period beginning on March 27, 2020 and ending December 31, 2020.” However, the deferred payments must still be made by the dates applicable to all employers who do choose tax deferral. To avoid incurring a penalty, you must adhere to the following dates and amounts:

On December 31, 2021, 50 percent of the eligible deferred amount; and
On December 31, 2022, the remaining amount
an example.

Let’s say that you owe in Social Security tax of $10,000 (for the period beginning March 27, 2020 and ending December 31, 2020). That means that you’d need to pay a minimum of $5,000 by December 31, 2021. The remaining amount would be due December 31, 2022

My returns were accepted 21 days ago when do I get my refund

I'm self employed and allow my taxes to be taken from return. This year I was asked if I wanted deferred and I said no. I followed all the steps and was given my return amount. However, 21 days passed and once checking where's my refund my refund was less. After, looking over my tax transcript I see an SE Tax and it matched the difference on what I was missing on my refund. So can you tell me why I was charged SE tax and deducted for deferred tax too? I do not have any employees either as some are saying this is for a business with employees. Please help because I cannot afford to have to pay an additional anything by Dec 2021 when I have already paid. I also do not know why the IRS made this decision because it's wasn't apart of the TurboTax calculations. Thanks for any advice you may have or explanation because I am confused.
