If your income tax return was approved by the IRS and it's been over 21 days, see What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days? If you claimed your stimulus (Recovery Rebate Credit) on your income tax return, it's part of your refund amount.
Perhaps you had a refund offset. A refund offset is when an IRS refund is reduced or intercepted to pay off delinquent debt, such as past-due child support, outstanding student loans, or unpaid state income tax.
Note: The stimulus money is not taxable to you.
i don't owe child support and never have. i have had child support owed to me in the past. and haven't been notified of owing anything else.. ? i did have to claim the stimulus from last year on taxes because i never got it. now this stimulus willl be held up because o this too?
The IRS is behind in processing returns. There are almost 7 millions returns that have not been processed which is more than three times the number in the same period last year.
The IRS workers are working mandatory overtime and working diligently to speed the process. With so many changes to the tax code for 2020, it is just taking longer.
Unfortunately, your return seems to be one that is being processed very slowly. They hope to get past the backlog this week.
