My return is approved and have paid . However when my printer finally produced my copies, I became aware that my rental amount was entered incorrectly. $691.00 was entered. The correct amount is$6960.00 will this alter my return, does it need to be amended

Yes, you will need to amend your return to make that correction. As a result, it may result in a tax due. To amend in Turbo Tax online.

  1. Log into Turbo Tax assuming you use Turbo Tax online
  2. When you reach the landing page, scroll to the bottom where your tax returns and documents are.
  3. Select 2020, and click on the option to amend and change return.
  4. Answer the questions about why you are amending
  5. Once you begin working in your return, your refund monitor will reset to 0.

To amend in Turbo Tax Software:

  1. Open Turbo Tax
  2. Go to federal Taxes>other tax situations
  3. other tax forms>amend a return

Are you talking about rental income or rent that you paid? If it's rental income, that much of a difference is significant and you have to file an amended return.

If it's rent that you paid, was it for your personal home or for a business? If it's for a business it's a significant difference and you have to file an amended return.

If it's rent that you paid for your personal home, it does not affect your federal tax return. What state are you in? Every state has different rules.
