My mother died in 2017. The IRS sent her a delayed refund last year in 2018 with interest added. I just got a 1099 from the IRS in her SSN. How should I handle this?

We filed the final estate return and her personal return in 2018. There are three beneficiaries.

Since your mother passed away in 2017, the refund and the interest belongs to her heir(s).  If that is you, then the funds are yours and you should report the interest on your tax return.
