My mom claimed me as a dependent in 2019 tax return, she has not filed in 2020 yet. I filled as a independent in 2020. She got 2800 stim and I got 1400. What should I do?

My mom got the extra dependent credit for stimulus because in 2019 she claimed me, and she hasn't filled in 2020 yet. I got my stimulus check because I filled in 2020 as an independent. This year she is going to file as single. What should I do in this situation? I called IRS but lady was unable to help.

You can both keep the third stimulus payment. Your mom will not have to pay back the $1,400 she received for you.

The IRS says in this document:

If a taxpayer's payment is less than the full amount and is based on their 2019 return, they may qualify for a supplemental payment after they file their 2020 return. The IRS will automatically reevaluate their eligibility. If the agency determines that they are entitled to a larger payment or the full payment, it will send them a supplemental payment covering the difference between what they originally received and the larger amount. If the re-evaluated amount is smaller, they won't need to pay back the difference. Aside from filing a 2020 tax return, no action is needed on their part.
