if you used online, the return is still there as would be copies of at least some of the documents you imported. if you used the desktop app the data and return may not be gone. It depends on what part failed. if it was the hard drive - sorry it's gone. The IRS website for transcripts may have the data but only to the extent 1099s or other reporting forms were filed with the iRS.
Please do not post multiple questions about the same problem. When information is scattered in multiple threads it's confusing and hard to follow, and hard to see the whole picture. If you have further questions or want to add more information please post a reply here in this thread. Do not post any more separate questions about the same problem.
In your first question that you posted yesterday, you asked about recovering your "2024 return." Now you are asking about "2024 return data." Exactly what "data" are you looking for? Do you mean a copy of your 2024 tax return, or do you mean W-2 forms, 1099 forms, and other data?
Did you already file your 2024 tax return? If so, you can get a copy or transcript of the tax return that you filed from the IRS. Go to the following link on the IRS web site for details. If you filed recently the transcript might not yet be available online, but it will be available in a month or two.
Topic No. 156, How to Get a Transcript or Copy of Your Tax Return
Did you use TurboTax Online or the desktop TurboTax software? As you have already been told, if you used the desktop software TurboTax does not have copies of your tax return or any other data. The information is only on the computer that you used, and any backup copies that you made yourself.
It's not clear exactly what you mean when you say your "laptop failed." If it was not the hard drive that failed, you might still be able to retrieve files from the hard drive, even if the laptop itself is not working. A computer repair shop can help you with that.
Was your laptop repaired after it crashed, or are you now using a new laptop?
