Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities. There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.

I understand you guys have a set of responses to use in response to our posts. But this isn't helpful whatsoever.
After 15 years of doing my taxes through Turbo Tax, I am well aware of how the process works.
That wasn't what my question was.
My concern is I am getting the run around from Cross River Bank, Turbo Tax, and Credit Karma on where my money is. Everyone is blaming the other, but nobody is actually answering my questions.
Over 5 hours of sitting on hold, between the multiple calls to each entity, and I still am no closer to knowing where my refund actually is. Cross River Bank says they submitted the funds to the Turbo Tax router account on 2/18. Turbo Tax says they submitted the funds to my Credit Karma spend account on 2/18. Credit Karma says they haven't received anything.
I've never had my refunds go through Cross River Bank, I don't even have record of requesting "5 Days Early" aside from just sending the funds to Credit Karma, and I have never had an issue like this before. I have always loved filing with Turbo Tax, but this will be my last year using your system to file my taxes.
Sorry you're having difficulty. That "pay fees out of refund" method not uncommonly has difficulties and makes timing and tracking difficult. This is mainly a user community forum--not a direct route to TurboTax Support. So folks here, even TurboTax employees who help in the forum, won't know anything specific about your account. Since you described that your funds are supposed to have gone to 3 different places (Cross River, Intuit router account, Credit Karma), it adds a lot of variability to the timing of all that.
As to how Cross River Bank came to be involved, you may already know, but whenever you request fees to be paid from a refund, the funds first go from the IRS to a third-party bank where the fees are taken out. It sounds like the third-party bank used was Cross River Bank. In years past it had not been possible to take products fees out of a state refund, but this year they are allowing that in some states, such as Arizona, Colorado, California, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, Michigan, and/or Wisconsin. Maybe they use Cross River Bank when the fees come out of a state refund.
"Turbo Tax says they submitted the funds to my Credit Karma spend account on 2/18. Credit Karma says they haven't received anything."
2 days ago (Feb. 18) may not have been enough time for it to go from Intuit router account to Credit Karma and for Credit Karma to process it into your account. If it were me, I'd wait and see what happens at Credit Karma on Monday. Perhaps it will process there into your account overnight tonight or over the weekend.
Did u figure out where it went? This happened to me as well my fees were taken from my state and I couldn’t find my info with SBTPG came to check the routing and it was cross river bank and I didn’t even choose the 5 day early option either and now it’s making me worried. Ddd is tomorrow 2/23 did u ever get ur refund to the account you wanted it to if so how late did u get it?
My DDD is tomorrow as well.
Cross River Bank confirmed on Thursday, that they sent it to the Turbo Tax Router account.
Turbo Tax now is telling me that they sent it to Credit Karma on the 18th.
Credit Karma still tells me that they see nothing.
From research and talking with others, Credit Karma rarely releases the funds earlier than the day of (even with the 5 days early nonsense that majority of us didn't sign up for). I also found out, which I kind of figured, that reps are not allowed to tell us if they see a pending deposit.
If I do not have my refund by tomorrow, I will be causing a stir with all 3 companies.
Hopefully me too but I’m wondering what it was even sent to cross river bank if they’re only used to take away the fees but my fees were already taken from state so why would federal even go to them since they shouldn’t be taking any fees from federal as they were already taken from state

I don't work for TurboTax, but this is me as a fellow user just thinking out loud.
Maybe TurboTax set it up for both Federal and State because they say they will take the fees out of whichever refund arrives first. In order to do that, it seems like they would have to set up the third-party account to receive both. Otherwise, they'd have to send the IRS 2 different deposit accounts, and the IRS wouldn't know which one was going to go to you first.
But that's just a guess, and may or may not be the case. That whole process can be confusing. Are you in one of these states: Arizona, Colorado, California, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, Michigan, and/or Wisconsin? Typically, those are the states whose filers can pay out of the state refund.
Makes sense I guess just wish some were knowledgeable one of the agent I had asked the question to said it was impossible for fees to be taken from state as that wasn’t even an “option” yet I had recipients of it getting taken from state refund and he left the chat lol

In past years it wasn't, but it is currently possible for these states: Arizona, Colorado, California, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, Michigan, and/or Wisconsin. Are you in one of those?
Scroll down the following page to the last section "Can I pay with my state refund?"
Yes, I'm guessing they send both and then take the fees from whichever comes first.
I believe for my state, this is the first year they were able to take the fees from it, as I always get it before my federal and this is the first time the fees were taken from it.
Ironically though, I have to file for 2 states, and only one of them is even going to my Credit Karma account, the other (whenever it's sent) will go to my regular bank account.
Yes I’m in California
I’ve always had state come in first
My DDD is today 2/23! My refund is not in my account! I have been filing for over 15 years as well, I have never had this happen either! I am waiting on cross bank to open, the number is (877) 552-7255 using prompts 2-4-2…I really need my money like right now
