My federal tax refund was returned by my bank. Can u tee me why

One possibility is it was deposited into an account you did not have ownership in. IRS regulations say your refund can only go into an account with your name on it.

It is also possible there was an error with your account number.

Call your bank and they will be able to tell you why they rejected your deposit.

If the bank sent your refund back to the IRS; the IRS will issue a paper check to the address on your return in 6-8 weeks.
