My Federal return was supposed to be $829, but I on only received $706.08 via direct deposit. Why was I shorted $123?

That could have been what you received after TurboTax's fees were withheld.  If not, you could have had a small debt that offset a portion of your refund (like a state tax debt).  If that is the case, the IRS will send you a letter explaining what happened.

Thanks for the response. My TurboTax fees should not have been $123! Do you know where I can look for a receipt of my fees within my account? Also, I expected to receive my State Refund via direct deposit (same as Federal), but the state site says it sent a paper check. Why would that have happened if I opted for direct deposit when filing with TurboTax?

You can see what you are being charged for. Click on Tax Tools from the Menu on the left side in your return. Click Tools then My Fees.

If you filed from Deluxe before March 1 it was $40 for Federal and $40 for state.  Then there was an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge to have the $80 fees deducted from your refund.  40+40+40= 120 plus sales tax.
